His widely ambitious music attacks a range of sounds from modal folk to Celtic blues and back again. He is highly acclaimed for his inspired combination of instruments and zest for experimentation. He has released a total of 10 albums, as both a solo artist and part of many different group projects, and has received numerous awards including the Doc Watson Award for Best Traditional Album in 2011.
