Thando is a South African vocalist and songwriter based in Johannesburg. She started as a chorister across several musicals and has been singing professionally since the age of 13. Thando has been involved in genres like R&B, hip hop, funk, soul, and dancehall. Her singles have reached a large audience in South Africa, with many of them receiving praise from music critics. In 2019, Thando released her debut album 'Somdelo', which earned her the award for Best African Artist at the Music Moves Europe Awards. The album's lead single 'Lust' was nominated in the Best Song category at the 2020 All African Music Awards. Thando has also appeared on a succession of various other popular African albums and singles over the years. She has collaborated with several international and African artists, such as Sauti Sol, Tabu, Tekno, DJ Maphorisa, and Black Motion.
