About Jay Rock
Jay Rock is an American rapper and songwriter from Watts, California. He's most known as being part of the 'Black Hippy' hip-hop crew alongside Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, and Ab-Soul.
He began rapping in 2005 and crafted a buzz by releasing a series of mixtapes throughout 2007 and 2008. In 2008 he signed to independent record label Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE). He released his major-label debut and long awaited studio album Follow Me Home in 2011, making appearances by Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne and Tech N9ne.
In 2015 Roy released his second album 90059, with guest appearances from Lamar, as well as SZA, Lance Skiiiwalker, Busta Rhymes and Isaiah Rashad. It was an immediate success, with fans and critics praising the production, lyricism and song structures.
His third album Redemption was released in 2018, supported by the hit single "Win". The album was critically
