About The Jones Girls
Founded in Philadelphia in 1972, The Jones Girls were an R&B girl group comprised of sisters Shirley, Valorie and Brenda. Shirley wrote the majority of their songs, and was lead vocalist for the group.
The Jones Girls rose to prominence in 1979 with the release of the single "You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else", which reached number eleven on the Billboard R&B chart. In 1980, they provided background vocals for Stephanie Mills' single "Never Knew Love Like This Before" and released an album of the same name.
Their biggest hits were "Nights Over Egypt", which garnered platinum status, and a remake of the Four Tops' classic "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", which was a number two hit in the UK singles chart in 1981.
Throughout their career, The Jones Girls recorded four albums and toured with The Jacksons, Prince and Luther Vandross. They broke up in 1986 after the release of their
