Tim Hecker is a Canadian electronic musician, composer and producer. Over the span of his career, Hecker has released a total of 9 albums, with his most recent being Konoyo in 2018. His work has been met with critical acclaim; in 2013 he was nominated for the Polaris Music Prize for his album Virgins. His other highly acclaimed albums include Ravedeath, 1972 (2011), Harmony in Ultraviolet (2006) and Haunt Me, Haunt Me Do It Again (2003). Hecker has shown a great propensity for experimentation, exploring genres such as drone, ambient, and post-rock. Hecker's music often draws heavily from visual art and incorporates elements of noise and distortion. His sound has been described as “haunting” and “beautiful” and has been compared to FM synthesis, unstructured improvisation and shamanic ritual.
