Virgen Maria (María Tasis) is a Spanish musician, singer, and songwriter born in 1962. She quickly became one of the most popular Spanish pop singers of her time in Spain, selling millions of records around the world. Her biggest hit album, "Sentimiento Nuevo", was released in 1980 and included the song of the same name. It topped the music charts for weeks and secured Virgen Maria's place in Spanish music.

She went on to release a number of successful audio and video albums, as well as numerous singles. Virgen Maria has also been nominated for many awards, including two Latin Grammy's for Best Female Pop Vocal Album in 2002 and 2003. Through her music, she has received a number of accolades and achieved an international following in both South and Central America. She continues to be a respected figure in Spanish music, with her music still played heavily on the radio today.
