Wintersun is a northern Finnish melodic metal band, formed in 2003 by singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Jari Mäenpää. Wintersun has put out one studio album, titled Wintersun in 2004 as well as two EPs: Winter Madness in 2006 and Beyond the Dark Sun in 2007. Their second studio album, Time I, was released in 2012. The band released their third studio album, The Forest Seasons, in 2017. Their music combines various metal genres, including symphonic black metal and power metal, and it often intertwines medieval and traditional folk elements into the mix. The band has a large and devoted following of fan, with their live performances receiving critical praise.
