James Carter tickets

James Carter is an internationally acclaimed jazz artist from Detroit, Michigan. Known for his virtuosity on the saxophone, bass clarinet, and other woodwind instruments, Carter has manned the stage and studio for over 40 years. He began his career as a member of the Saxophone Summit and went solo in 1990 with his debut release, Jurassic Classics. Since then, Carter has released over 10 albums, collaborating on projects with artists from all over the world including John Scofield, Dave Douglas, and Glenn Hutchinson. He has typically stayed true to a jazz sound but has also flirted with gospel, R&B, and soul elements. His 2004 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Solo for his performance on “Layin’ In the Cut” is evidence of his prowess.
