Ossian is a Celtic Rock band from Scotland. Their music is known for combining traditional tunes, folk ballads, and contemporary sounds. The group was formed in 1985 by brothers Alan and Angus Preston, and over the years has featured ten different members. Ossian have released over 14 studio albums, three live albums, and a number of singles and EPs. Their music has been described as passionate and melodic, with a distinctively Highland sound. Some of their best-known songs include ‘The Desperate Battle of the Birds’, ‘When I Was Young’, and ‘An Eriskay Love Lilt’. Ossian have established themselves as one of the foremost Celtic rock bands, having toured extensively around the UK, Ireland, and Europe. To date, the band has earned two prestigious British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors awards.
