Brooklyn Funk Essentials (BFE) is an American funk and soul jazz collective led by record producer and bassist Arthur Baker. BFE was formed in 1991 in New York City and has released their first album, Cool & Steady & Easy in 1994. Their music is characterized as a blend of funk, soul, jazz, hip hop, Latin, and more, and has been heavily sampled in albums from major artists. The group also serves as an outlet for underground hip-hop producers, and they have collaborated with numerous artists from the fields of jazz, funk, electronica, and dance.
