DEVO is an American New Wave and Synthpop group formed in Cleveland, Ohio in 1972. They are considered to be one of the early pioneers of electronic music. Their signature style is a mix of punk rock, new wave, and visual arts. They are known for their unusual, anti-establishment, and often humorous songs and videos. Their first album, released in 1978, included the top 10 single "Whip It", which became a worldwide hit. Over the years they released several more popular albums including "Freedom of Choice" and "New Traditionalists" before disbanding in 1991. After a short reunion in 1996, they reformed again in 2006 and released their ninth album "Something for Everybody". They continue to be a major influence in modern alternative music.
