Augustana is an American alternative rock band from San Diego, California, formed in 2002. The current lineup consists of lead vocalist and main songwriter Dan Layus, keyboardist Chris Sachtleben, bassist Jared Palomar, lead guitarist Kyle Baker and drummer Justin South. The band first gained fame in 2005 when their single "Boston" reached No. 5 on the Adult Top 40. The success of the song caused their debut album, All the Stars and Boulevards, to peak at No. 5 on the US Billboard Heatseekers chart.

Augustana quickly followed up with 2007's Can't Love, Can't Hurt, which reached No. 14 in the US, and their third album, Life Imitating Life, released in 2009, reached No. 26 in the US. The band released a self-titled EP in 2013 and their fourth studio album, titled Golden State, in 2019. Over the course of their career, the band has released several singles
