Ben Caplan is a Canadian folk/roots singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Halifax, Nova Scotia. His music is based strongly in traditional folk, but incorporates influences from blues, soul, jazz, rock and more. His powerful tenor voice and dynamic, theatrical performances have garnered him national and international acclaim. His first solo album, In the Time of the Great Remembering, was released in 2011 and was well-received. Since then, Caplan has released two more studio albums (Birds with Broken Wings and Old Stock). He has also released two live albums and has embarked on several tours throughout Canada, and the US and Europe. In addition to his solo work, Caplan is part of a rock band called Ben Caplan and The Casual Smokers, and a side-project folk trio called Atlantic Union.
