About Christian McBride
Christian McBride is an American jazz bassist and composer. He has worked with a variety of influential musicians, including jazz legend Miles Davis, Isaac Hayes, Roberta Flack, and Valery Ponomarev. In addition, he has recorded with the Mingus Big Band and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
In 2000, McBride released his debut album A Family Affair, and since then, he has recorded over 20 solo albums. He has won a total of five Grammy Awards, including Best Instrumental Composition and Best Instrumental Arrangement. McBride has also been the recipient of the Doris Duke Artist Award in 2013.
McBride has served as the Artistic Director for the Jazz Aspen Snowmass summer academy and festival since 2006, and has taken up positions as Creative Chair for Jazz in Los Angeles and Nashville Jazz Workshop since 2016.
