Marty Friedman is an American guitarist, known for his influential and eclectic style of instrumental rock and heavy metal. His career began with the thrash metal gigac group Megadeath in the late 1980s, where he frequently played lead solos. In the 1990s, he began to expand his influence, experimenting with a variety of genres and collaborating with different artists. He moved to Japan in 2003 and has since released a series of solo records. Friedman has also composed television and film soundtracks, released a two-hour instructional video, written two books, and hosted a TV music show. He continues to tour and record, and is well respected as an influential and talented figure in both popular and instrumental music.
