The Jayhawks are an American alt-country band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Formed in 1985, the band consists of core members Gary Louris and Mark Olson. Originating from the dreampop scene of Minneapolis' mid-80s college rock scene, The Jayhawks blended tight vocal harmonies with elements of rock and country to infuse their sound with a timeless charm. Over the course of their career, The Jayhawks have released eleven studio albums with their most recent being Paging Mr. Proust in 2016. Songs like “Blue” and “Waiting for the Sun” remain fan favorites, providing a glimpse into the band’s timeless sound. Now recognized as one of the bands who helped usher in the Americana movement, The Jayhawks continue to influence aspiring musicians across many genres.
