Varials is a metalcore band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Tyson Maurer, Doug Weber, Joel Moore, Chris Cain and Anthony DeMario formed the band in 2013 originally as a six-piece with the original vocalist Sean Rauchut, but eventually reworked into the 5-piece band they are today. Their debut EP, Pain Again, was released in 2014, and their debut full-length album, Failure//Control, came out in 2017 through Fearless Records.

The band's sophomore album, In Darkness, which was released in 2019, showcases the creativity of the band as it dives into heavier subjects such as depression and mental health, and shows a more mature sound from the band compared to their debut album. A deluxe version of In Darkness was released a year later, in 2020, that contained a few remastered songs from the album, giving fans old and new something to enjoy.
