Autechre is an electronic music group formed in the late 1980s by Rob Brown and Sean Booth. Based in Rochdale, England, their music has been characterized by complex, abstract beats and rhythms. Autechre have released numerous singles, albums and EPs since their debut album Incunabula in 1993. Autechre's music has been a highly influential force in IDM, Ambient, and other experimentally intended electronic genres. Most of their early singles were released on various labels such as Warp, Clear, and Skam, before their signing with major label Virgin in 2001. Throughout the 2000s Autechre continued to engage with changing technologies and compositions, as well as performing live with their own audio-visual show. In 2011, Autechre was presented with the Pathfinder Award at the Moogfest in Asheville, North Carolina.
