Don McLean is an American singer-songwriter and folk musician known for his 1971 hit song "American Pie.” He is one of the best-selling artists of all time, recording a string of hits throughout the '70s and '80s. His music is known for short story-like lyrics, often taking the listener on a journey. His home was in New York, but he toured extensively across the United States and Europe for many years. McLean's music has been covered by the likes of Madonna, George Michael, Garth Brooks, and more and he earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2000.
