About Jimmy Ellis
Jimmy Ellis was an American country and R&B singer, best known for his time with the group The Trammps in the late 1960s. Born in Florence, South Carolina, Ellis was the second son of a truck driver. He began singing in his church choir at an early age, eventually going on to sing gospel music on the gospel circuit as a teenager. In the mid-1960s, Ellis formed a soul band called The Dynamics with several other local musicians. The group soon changed their name to The Trammps and recorded their first single “Love Epidemic”.
In 1969, Ellis and the group released their first full-length studio album entitled “The Legendary Zing Album”. The album spawned hit singles such as “Love Train”, “Soul Searchin’ Time” and “Where Do You Go To, My Lovely”. The singles received significant airplay locally and Ellis became a performer
