About Kansas

Kansas is an American rock band from Topeka, Kansas. Formed in 1973, the original lineup of the group comprised bassist Dave Hope, Keyboardist/vocalist Steve Walsh, guitarist/vocalist Richard Williams, guitarist Kerry Livgren, drummer Phil Ehart, and violinist/guitarist Robby Steinhardt. The band is best known for their artistic and progressive rock style.
The band first tasted success with the release of their self-titled album in 1974. The track "Carry On Wayward Son" became a radio anthem, and the album went platinum. Their next album, Leftoverture, released in 1976, reached quadruple platinum status and contained two hit singles.
The band then released their seventh full-length album, Point of Know Return, in 1977. The album received positive reviews from fans and critics, and spawned two hit singles. Kansas then released Monolith in 1979, and it become their biggest selling record
