Lila Downs is a Mexican-American songwriter, vocalist, and activist. She is an internationally acclaimed artist who has explored a cross-section of musical genres, from traditional Mexican music to American hip hop. She has collaborated with major artists including Nina Simone, Juanes, Roger Waters, Beyoncé, and more. She has released nine albums to date, including Border and La Cantina and has won numerous awards for her talent, including a Latin Grammy Award, two Latin Billboard Music Awards, and three Grammy Awards. Downs has also acted in the film Frida (2002) and has given workshops at several universities and high schools worldwide.
