The choir was formed in 2002 by producer Beverly Bryer and has since gone on to win several awards, including two Grammy awards and a Dutch Edison Music Award. Their unique gospel music is a combination of African gospel, negro spirituals and popular South African songs. The choir has toured all over the world and performed alongside a plethora of artists such as Bono, Elvis Costello, and Miley Cyrus, among others. They have released eight studio albums, their most recent 'Freedom' in 2018, which was nominated for a Grammy in the Best World Music Album category. Soweto Gospel Choir is a powerful force in the world of gospel music and is continuing to influence and inspire people around the globe.
