Testament was one of the first thrash metals that surfaced from San Francisco in the early '80s. The band became known for its influence in the emergence of the genre and have been recognized as the "Big Eight" of thrash metal along with the likes of Metalica or Megadeath.
With twelve studio albums under their belt, Testament failed to reach their designated status of megastars, partly because of band inconsistency.
Their music was always considered a piece of art by rock music critics, but they didn't manage to hit platinum with any of their records. In 2008, the band released their first record in almost a decade. They followed up with two new albums and a string of live performances supporting the likes of Judas Priest or Motörhead. The group did not manage to reach their stride, but their contribution to the genre hasn't been forgotten!
