The XX is an English indie-pop band that formed in 2005. The original lineup featured lead singer and bassist Oliver Sim, Guitarist and keyboardist Baria Qureshi, producer Jamie Smith, and Romy Madley Croft. They debuted in 2009 with their self-titled album, featuring hit singles such as "Crystalised" and "Islands". Their distinct sound has been lauded for its use of whispering vocals and electronic effects.

In 2012, the band released Coexist, a more melancholic and subdued record compared to their debut, and achieved their first number-one album in the UK. In 2017, they released their third studio album, I See You, which also became a major commercial success and critically acclaimed. In addition, they have released two live albums and several extended plays.

Their music deals with themes of intimacy, loneliness, and yearning, and their artistry has earned them many accolades, winning the 2010 Mercury Prize and
