Holly Johnson is an English singer-songwriter and artist from Liverpool, England. He is best known as the lead singer of the pioneering new wave group Frankie Goes To Hollywood, who had massive popularity in the 1980s. His solo career began in 1989 and since then he has released five studio albums. His solo debut, "Blast," went to No. 4 in the U.K. and he has achieved seven top 40 hits and two No. 1 singles. Johnson has also had success as a painter, an exhibition of his work in 2018 at the Walker Gallery in Liverpool. He was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2019, in recognition of his musical and artistic achievements.
