J.I.D (Jermaine Cole) is an American hip hop recording artist, songwriter, and rapper from East Atlanta, Georgia. He is signed to Dreamville Records, an imprint of Interscope, and Spillage Village, an independent collective of Atlanta-based rappers. J.I.D started rapping in 2009 and released his first two mixtapes The Lost Tapes and Para Tu in 2011. His early work was heavily influenced by J. Cole, who signed J.I.D to Dreamville in 2017. His debut album The Never Story was released in March 2017 and gained critical acclaim from XXL and Pitchfork among others. His sophomore release DiCaprio 2 was released in December 2018 and topped iTunes hip-hop charts. J.I.D has gone on tour with both J. Cole and Dreamville Records, and continues to produce hit music.
