About Voivod

Voivod is a Canadian metal band that formed in 1982 in Jonquiere, Quebec. They are considered to be a pioneering band in the thrash and progressive metal genres, mixing elements of heavy metal with elements of other music. Throughout their career, the members of Voivod have experimented with a range of musical styles such as death metal, experimental metal, jazz-fusion, industrial and alternative metal.

Voivod released their first self-titled album in 1984, and since then have released 15 studio albums, 10 live albums, 4 EPs and 4 compilation albums. Along the way, they won 3 Juno Awards in Canada for Best Metal/Hard Music Group in 1990 and 2009, and for Best Video in 1991. They have been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Recording Package and have had their songs featured on games such as Rock Band, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 and Nuclear Throne.
