About Lynyrd Skynyrd
Awoken in the deep south, Lynyrd Skynyrd was formed in Jacksonville, Florida, and combined the soft touch of southern blues-rock with hard rock attitude. Ever since 1969, when the band formed, they were the rebellious rockers from the deep south, with blues-rock hymns that made you call for some ice tea to cool you down.
Renowned for the classical "Sweet Home Alabama," the band loved to jam wherever! They were a popular bunch. However, Van Zant's songwriting talents were clouded by their appearance and redneck perception. The group split up in 1977 following the tragic plane crash that killed the Van Zan and two of the band members. Lynyrd Skynyrd reunited in 1987 and continued on the same southern blues-rock venture releasing over 15 studio albums to date. For their achievements and unicity, they've been included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
