Marisa Anderson is an American guitarist, writer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. She grew up in rural Montana and started playing the guitar at the age of nine. After a few years, she left her home and busked across the country. Anderson's music has since evolved, drawing on a variety of influences from folk, country, gospel, and blues, to surf and avant-garde, as well as incorporating field recordings and archival tapes. As a solo artist, Anderson has released numerous albums of instrumental music as well as collaborating with a variety of other artists. She has also released several solo albums of her original material as well as scoring films and videos. Anderson is also an active member of the ambient-drone music scene and frequently performs improvised live shows, both as a solo artist and as part of ensembles.
