Photay is an American multi-instrumentalist and electronic musician from New Paltz, NY. His music has been described as a combination of funk, world, and ambient flavors and influences. He is known for his skillful sampling of organic and modern components, including African percussion and jazz samples, combining them with synthesizers and effects pedals. His 2017 debut album, Onism, was released to critical acclaim, landing on multiple year-end best of lists and receiving a remix EP with contributions from notable producers. Following this release, he put out two EPs in 2018 and 2019 that showed a continued evolution of his sound and approach to production. He has opened for artists such as Polo & Pan, Yoshinori Hayashi, and Ryan Playground, and has appeared in multiple tastemaker outlets, like Redbull Music and the Fader.
