Slipknot is an American alternative metal band from Des Moines, Iowa. The band was formed in 1995 and brought together the aggressive sound of nu metal and alternative metal. Since then, they have released five studio albums, with their 2000 effort being the most popular. Slipknot has had nine Billboard Hot 100 hits and won nine Grammy nominations.
