The Alarm are a Welsh rock band formed in 1981, fronted by Mike Peters. Although initial punk leanings changed to a more contemporary and commercial rock sound, The Alarm remained a passionate, political band, producing anthemic tunes with urgent, socially conscious lyrics. They released 12 studio albums, including their 1986 UK top 10 single “68 Guns”, and earned diehard fans with intense, uplifting live shows. The band followed up with a series of several hit singles throughout the 1980s, all achieving the top ten in the UK Singles Chart. In 2001, they released their first album in over a decade, In the Poppy Fields. In recent years, the band has continued to tour while also running the Love Hope Strength foundation. The Alarm’s influence is still felt via the dozens of bands who continue to cite the band as an inspiration.
