Beyoncé, accompanied by her daughters Blue Ivy and Rumi Carter, celebrated the grand opening of the Knowles-Rowland House in Houston on October 13, 2026. This new housing development aims to provide permanent supportive housing for individuals experiencing chronic homelessness.

The Knowles-Rowland House stands on the site of the former Knowles-Rowland Center for Youth, originally established in 1999 with proceeds from Destiny's Child's first single. The original center served as a gymnasium and community space until it was damaged by Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and a subsequent fire in 2021. The newly constructed facility now offers 31 housing units, with 16 designed for residents with mobility or sensory impairments. Residents will have access to comprehensive support services, including mental health counseling, substance use treatment, life skills training, and nutrition assistance, facilitated through partnerships with Bread of Life, Inc. and Temenos Community Development Corporation. During the ribbon-cutting ceremony at St. John's Downtown Church, where Beyoncé was baptized, she reflected on her deep connection to the community. "I made the choice on my own to be baptized because I felt the spirit here, and I feel the spirit right now," she shared. (houstonchronicle.com)

The event also featured a touching moment when Kelly Rowland, visibly moved, was comforted by Blue Ivy and Rumi, highlighting the close-knit bond among the attendees. (realitytea.com)

This initiative underscores Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland's longstanding commitment to their hometown, transforming a space with personal and historical significance into a beacon of hope for those in need.
