The Los Angeles Rams have signed veteran kicker Brandon McManus, marking their third kicker acquisition in two weeks. This move comes after Blake Grupe suffered a season-ending knee injury during his debut in the Rams' 18-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on October 18, 2026. Prior to Grupe, the Rams had released kicker Harrison Mevis due to performance issues.
McManus, 35, brings a wealth of experience to the Rams. He spent nine seasons with the Denver Broncos, where he was part of the Super Bowl 50 championship team. More recently, he played for the Green Bay Packers during the 2024 and 2025 seasons. In 2024, McManus achieved a career-high field goal percentage of 95.2%, converting 20 of 21 attempts. However, his performance declined in 2025, making 24 of 30 field goals and missing two crucial attempts in the Packers' playoff loss to the Chicago Bears. (heavy.com)
The Rams' special teams have faced significant challenges this season. After releasing Mevis, Grupe was signed but unfortunately tore his ACL while making a tackle on kickoff coverage during his first game. This series of events has led the Rams to turn to McManus in hopes of stabilizing their kicking game. (latimes.com)
In addition to signing McManus, the Rams have placed wide receiver Davante Adams and nose tackle Poona Ford on Injured Reserve. Adams is expected to miss 6-10 weeks due to a hamstring injury, while Ford's season has ended because of a triceps injury. (therams.com)
The Rams, currently holding a 2-4 record, are set to face the Las Vegas Raiders on October 25, 2026. McManus is anticipated to make his debut with the team during this matchup.
