About Punch Brothers
Punch Brothers is a progressive bluegrass group composed of Punch brothers Chris Thile, Chris Eldridge, Paul Kowert, Noam Pikelny, and Gabe Witcher. Drawing from traditional bluegrass influences, such as Bill Monroe, to other genres like bluegrass, avant-garde jazz, and classical, the band creates a distinctive sound rooted in Americana. Formed in 2006 in New York City by mandolinist Chris Thile, the group has recorded seven albums of original material, including their most recent, “The Phosphorescent Blues.” The band has won two Grammy Awards and has collaborated with renowned orchestras, such as the New York Philharmonic and the Berliner Philharmoniker. In 2017, they broadcast their show “Live from Here” on a variety of public radio stations and their tours continue to bring their energetic and melodically complex live shows to fans across the country.
