French 79 is an alternative indie electronic artist from France who melds together dreamy retro synths with modern elements to create an electronic, ambient pop sound. He first began releasing music in 2008 under his own name and much of his work has featured collaborations with indie acts. His breakout came in 2016 with the surprise hit "Golden Age" from his debut album Olympic, which was widely praised by critics. He followed that up in 2018 with the album Jupiter, which blended a wider range of styles and genres, ranging from chillwave to dream-pop and synthwave. Alongside his album releases, French 79 has also shared several short EP's, singles, and remixes. His unique sound and melancholic, romantic vibes have made him an underground favorite, garnering him a passionate cult following.
