Best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the alternative rock/garage punk trio Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, he is widely credited as one of the main driving forces behind the genres revival in the early 90s. Alongside releasing music with The Blues Explosion, Spencer has also recorded several solo albums and collaborated with a variety of electronic and hip hop artists. He is widely celebrated for his distinctive guitar style that mixes punk, funk, metal and blues. He has also been praised for his ability to jump between different genres with ease. In addition to his musical achievements, Spencer has composed original music for movie soundtracks and television shows, such as Portlandia and The Venture Bros.
