Weezer is that collage band that never seems to get their footing right, but smash out a few platinum singles along the way, before they go missing once again. Formed in Los Angeles, California, Weezer hit the ground running with their album debut "Blue Album" reaching platinum level. Tracks like "Buddy Holly" won four MTV Video Music Awards. The album proved to be the group's first and best music release.
Initially, the band had an alternative sound; however, the group endeavored to create more pop-oriented records, and tracks like "Hash Pipe" and "Island In the Sun" are a perfect example of how to go pop and not sell out. Their identity prevailed, yet their music transformed into a sound that could be relished by a broader spectrum of audiences. Oh, and MTV loved absolutely everything the band was doing and producing.
