The Trews are an alt-rock band from Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. Founded in 1999, The Trews consisted of four members: singer-guitarist Colin MacDonald, guitarist John-Angus MacDonald, bassist Jack Syperek, and drummer Sean Dalton. After independently releasing their debut album, House of Ill Fame, in 2003, the band signed with Bumstead Records and released their second album, Den of Thieves, in 2004. The Trews released their third album, No Time for Later, in 2008 and their fourth album, Hope & Ruin, in 2010. Their fifth album, Rescue, was released in 2014, and their sixth album, Civilianaires, was released in 2018.
