The Melvins are an American rock band formed in 1983 in Montesano, Washington. They are often credited as pioneers of the Seattle grunge movement, influencing contemporaries such as Nirvana, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains. Throughout their career, The Melvins have released 26 studio albums, 3 live albums, 5 compilations and a number of other releases. They have worked with a variety of labels, including Atlantic, Ipecac and Amphetamine Reptile. The band's lineup has changed numerous times over the years, but founding members Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover remain the core of the band and provide their unique mix of sludgy riffs, psychedelic influences and experimental compositions.
