About Altern-8
Altern-8 is an English rave/techno group formed by Chris Peat and Mark Archer in 1991. Their music combined elements of hardcore and acid house and the band is most famous for their heavily recognisable use of the Roland TR-909 drum machine and fused samples. They are perhaps best known for their charting single "Activ-8 (Come With Me)" and the 1992 album Evapor-8. The songs were heavily informed by the sound of early British rave music, combining elements of electro, techno, dancehall and hip hop. Altern-8 released several other albums and EPs before disbanding in 1994. In recent years they have reunited and performed in several live concerts and festivals across the UK. They have also released a few new singles and albums.
