About American Aquarium
American Aquarium is an Americana/Alt-Country band from Raleigh, North Carolina. Led by songwriter BJ Barham, the group's sound hearkens back to the gritty roots of classic Outlaw Country and Southern Rock sounds of the 70s. American Aquarium was formed in 2006 when BJ Barham and Gavin Matthews joined forces and began self-recording their album 'Rockingham' the following year.
Since then, they have released a total of eight studio albums, two live albums, and multiple EPs that range in tone from gloomy Americana tunes to loud barn-burners. The band survives on constant touring, playing at venues across the US, Europe, and UK.
American Aquarium has received praise from numerous national critics, and their songwriting has been featured in a few hit TV shows and movies. With emotionally raw yet infectious tunes, they are considered by many to be one of the most captivating acts in the alternative/
