About Arthur Baker
Arthur Baker is an American record producer, remixer, songwriter and DJ who has been active in the music industry since the 1970s. He is perhaps most known for his production work on Afrika Bambaataa's groundbreaking hip-hop track "Planet Rock" , which has been often credited with helping to invent electro hip-hop. Other notable tracks from Baker's production career include New Order's "Blue Monday" and The Passion of Lovers by Bauhaus. Baker ventured into remixing in the mid-1980s, having his most success with the Herbie Hancock remixes in 1985. He also produced a number of his own albums in the late 1980s, such as Absolut The Progression II. In recent years Arthur Baker has focused on DJing while still doing select remix work. He has performed concerts around the world, as well as with Grandmaster Melle Mel & The Furious Five at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
