Black Belt Eagle Scout is an American singer-songwriter from Portland, Oregon. Her real name is Katherine Paul and she draws from both her Native American roots and the Pacific Northwest DIY culture. Paul released her debut album, 'Mother of My Children', in 2018 to critical acclaim, with Pitchfork claiming that Paul “balances the warm pulse of her indie-rock band with the glistening beauty of her voice”. The album was also named one of the year’s best by publications such as Rolling Stone, NPR, and Stereogum. In 2020, Black Belt Eagle Scout moved to Saddle Creek Records, and released her second album, 'At the Party With My Brown Friends', a lush mix of folk, indie-rock, and dreamy pop. Featuring the single "Loss & Relax", the album was met with praise from outlets like Paste, The Fader, and Uncut, who praised the album for “its undefin
