Charles Lloyd is a multi-instrumentalist musician and composer hailing from Memphis, TN. He has been a major force in the jazz world since the 1960s, performing both as a leader and collaborator. His style encompasses a range of musical genres, including free jazz, post-bop, funk, blues, and folk music. He is highly acclaimed for his use of improvisation and dynamic, spiritual compositions, released across numerous acclaimed albums throughout his career. Recent releases, such as Wild Man Dance (2015), feature extended improvisations ranging from pop standards to originals. He has collaborated with many of the top names in jazz, including Keith Jarrett and Dexter Gordon. His most recent album, Tone Poem, was released in September 2020.
