Desta French is a multidisciplinary artist, originally from West Africa. She emerged on the music scene in 2009, releasing her debut album, The Birth of Frenchy. Drawing from her roots in Afro-hip hop, she is a versatile artist, blending traditional elements ofAfrobeat, highlife, jazz, reggae and soul.

Her sophomore album, Dear Life, was an instant hit and was highly praised by critics. Her music has become a cultural touchstone in the African diaspora, touching on themes of love, identity and social unrest. She is a regular performer at music festivals, major and independent events alike.

Desta's third release was a collaborative project between herself and the Poetic Pilgrimage, a globetrotting duo comprised of her and American rapper, poet and singer, Kameelah Janan Rasheed. The album, Against the Sun, garnered acclaim in both the United States and Europe.
