Fernando Villalona, also known by his nickname El Mayimbe, is one of the most iconic figures in Mexican music, having been an active performer since the 1970s. He is renowned for his unique take on the traditional Merengue style, infusing his music with flavors of Colombian Cumbia and Cuban Son.
