Gogol Bordello is an American-based gypsy punk band from New York City, formed in 1999 and fronted by Ukrainian-born Eugene Hütz. Prominently blending traditional folk and gypsy music with rock, Gogol Bordello have irreverent lyrics delivered in a raucous sound, making them a live favourite. Gogol Bordello have toured with notable acts such as Primus, Oasis and Muse, and supported Gogol Bordello's theatrical stage performances on tour and collaborations with other bands led to mainstream success and commercial crossover. Their 2005 single "Start Wearing Purple" was covered by The Flaming Lips and was featured in the film Everything Is Illuminated.
