Jazz Mafia is an innovative collective of musicians and producers from the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded in 2005, the group’s core performers have backgrounds in jazz, hip-hop, avant-garde, funk, pop, and classical music which combine to animate their distinct sound. They’ve collaborated with many diverse artists such as Hieroglyphics, Blackalicious, Lyrics Born, and M.I.A. The Jazz Mafia has released a number of albums and compilations that showcase their various musical stylings. They also curate symphony shows with some of the Bay Area’s top DJs, MCs, vocalists, and instrumentalists. Their thrilling live performances, which are often infused with light installations, video projection, and visual artists, draw large crowds.
